Top 7 Best Destinations for a 7 Day Tour of Sri Lanka

Arriving in Sri Lanka from the Katunayake International Airport, you can relax at a hotel in Colombo or Negombo for the first day of travel.  The next day you can start your trip refreshingly.  If you are planning to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla, this is the place for you.

Sigiriya

Sigiriya is considered to be one of the most ancient palaces in Sri Lanka.  It has two folk beliefs and one group says that it was built by the Kasyapa kings who ruled the Anuradhapura kingdom about 2400 years ago.  Others say that it is one of the palaces of kings called Ravana who is believed to have ruled the country about 5000 years ago.  However, this ancient and amazing creation has become a major tourist destination in the world today.  The main attraction here is the stone tablet with artificial pools and water fountains in the past, colorful paintings and notes of the people who visited it later.  You can also visit the nearby Pidurangala Rock.  Sigiriya, the most famous place in the world, is photographed from that place.

Dambulla Cave Temple

This cave temple can be described as another tourist paradise and a place of special value in Buddhist history.  These caves were built by kings and nobles to house the monks who lived in the country in the past.

2. Kandy
