South Beach Tourist Paradise – Unawatuna Beach

We brought up the beauty of the South Coast through many previous articles.  Unawatuna Beach is one of the most famous beaches on the southern coast.  It is one of the most popular beaches in the world.  Unawatuna is closer to the Galle coast.  It belongs to the Galle district.  Different species of animals can be seen.  Like other beaches, it is a popular tourist destination.  Coral reefs as well as the Hikkaduwa beach can be seen on this beach.  In addition, there are many other special places here.

History stories and folklore

This is a story of history associated with the coast.  That history goes back to the time of King Rawana who is believed to have ruled 6000 years ago.  This is mentioned in the book “Ramayana” written by Valkimi, an Indian writer. Hanuman brought a mountain of medicine from India to cure Lakshmana who was wounded in the war.  But when one was taken to the battlefield, part of it crashed in place.  The place is named “Unawatuna” based on that incident.  It means “fell down.”

Natural beauty

This place also has a very special place in terms of beauty.  This is one of the most beautiful places on the South Coast.  Coral reefs and various animals can be seen here.  In addition, “Rumassala”, Jungle Beach, Peace Pagoda.  Etc. You can see many more things going on in this place.

Rumassala mountain and beach

Rumassala mountain is a place of natural attraction and many wonderful conversations.  Plants found only in the Himalayan region of India can be seen here.  The birds are endemic to the area.  This is a great place to watch the birds.  The area is a major tourist attraction.  The beach at the foot of the mountain is also a major tourist attraction.

Jungle Beach

This place is located west of Unawatuna beach.  A place with a tourist frenzy.  But because of the large number of tourists who do not gather at one time, there is freedom for visitors.  Tourists can enjoy fishing, flora and fauna, and boat rides.

Japanese Peace Pagoda

This is the dagoba on Mount Rumassala. This dagoba is painted white on the south coast.  Tourists often visit this place.  Beautiful photos of this place have been posted on social media.

Tourists visiting Unawatuna Beach can enjoy a variety of beautiful experiences.  It is our responsibility to pass on these wonderful experiences to the future.  So we who visit this place will take action to protect this place.
